Time to get the ideas rolling for July 4th! This might be my second favorite holiday, summer bbq and fireworks—SO FUN. Above is the wreath I made for this year, complete with denim flowers. Can't get more American than that!

Also below, a few images from last years' patriotic photoshoot. Which features an awesome lemon shortcake recipe and fun pinwheel diy. Just to get you pondering some thoughts for the red, white & blue season!

eggstra awesome diy's

So super late post today. Things are a little squirly with the upcoming holiday. Working on some ideas for an Easter brunch this weekend. I'm loving this little book page nest, I think it'll find a way into the weekend decor. Found the tutorial here, by Ellen Luckett Baker.

Below are more lovely egg diy ideas, for you to squeeze in the next few days.

just add ruffles diy

Everything is better with ruffles! Especially my shower curtain—which went to the land of ruffles this week.

I searched and found these instructions, but didn't find a step by step so I decided to make my own.

1 // Use pinking shears to cut strips of fabric (ruffles shown are 1.5" wide).
2 // Sew a line down center of each fabric strip.
3 // Take one thread and pull tight, scrunching fabric into ruffles.
4 // Once the strip of fabric is completely ruffled, smooth out to make an even appearance. Then pin down (to other fabric surface) and sew another straight line following the previous seam.

While pretty basic, the six stripes did take about 4 hours of ruffling and sewing. The personality it adds to the bathroom is well worth it though.

Hope you are having a great week!

a crafty st. patrick's day

A Friday round-up of Irish fun for next week!

After researching for this post I'm now in the mood for some St. Patrick's Day celebration. And some homemade Irish cream might be calling my name...

more embroidery hoop art

Happy February! Starting off the month of love with a LOVE-ly wall display.

I noticed this on the Facebook page of my design hero and friend—Maria, and BEGGED her to let me share with you. Part of her nursery decor to welcome Oliver and oh-SO-sweet! Hard to choose a favorite with the button flowers, house on a hill, basically every adorable hoop. Which is YOUR favorite???

flower hair pins

Hello! Check out these lovely flowers that I turned into hair ornaments.

I found the paper flower embellishments at the craft store (from this collection), and used hot glue to attach them to bobby pins. Even added a little lace for extra fun.

They are so pretty! I still have four left that still need a job, any suggestions?

sandra monat vikings

I've seen these around the web before, but came across them again recently and couldn't resist documenting permantently.

LOVE these little guys! Sandra Monat has a lovely studio in Germany and makes the most incredible characters. If I was to become pregnant with a boy, I think my dream nursey would be inspired by this. My admiration for her work is overflowing, the patchwork perfection on unique one-of-a-kind creations.

Make sure to check out her site, blog, and twitter as she has MANY other great creations. Also, vikings are for sale here and two articles featuring Sandra are here and here.

Wishing you a lovely weekend! What are your plans? I will be spending mine with my amazing husband—whom I haven't seen since October. Beyond excited!
