swirls of pumpkin goodness

If you needed that perfect item to bring to your Thanksgiving gathering, I suggest you make this heavenly pumpkin roll. Pumpkin bread + cream cheese filling is MY FAVORITE part of fall, when accompanied by an eggnog latte of course. Find the recipe here.

sweet reward

How to cope with life back from vacation and missing my husband again—zucchini bread. While doing laundry and cleaning, why not throw in some baking for the all around domesic award? Sadly, it doesn't taste as good as I remember and baked goods never seem to turn out well in this oven.

Ah, well. It is the weekend. Any plans for fall activities? I'm needing motivation to catch up. This weekend I hope to carve pumpkins with the neighbor kids—should be enough drama to last me a while.

bbq and baby

Being that I love all things rustic and non-traditional, it's clear that I was smitten when Mekala of Tie That Binds posted this baby shower featuring her custom stationery. Oh, to be a guest! The subtle charm and sweet southern flair is so classy, and the stationery was perfect for the occasion. This chica is constantly showcasing one beautiful event after the other, and I so admire her hard work and building a dream business from the ground up. Motivation for us all to pursue our dreams.

strawberry heaven

A last dash of berry goodness.

My friend, Lydia, and I made this non-traditional cake for her birthday bbq. So much yumminess, I could hardly stand to share with other guests. > recipe here.

And just to let you know, next time my photos will look like this and this.

patriotic shortcake

Please let me share my hopes and dreams (in the form of styling this photo shoot).

Photo Info > Strawberry shortcake, showcased red white & blue. BTW, this recipe for lemon shortcake is AH-mazing. Pinwheel drink stirrer DIY coming Wednesday.

Rambling > This is what I want to be when I grow up (or do, I suppose). Yes, I just threw this together for no reason other than the fact that someday I want to earn a living styling photos. I love it. SO MUCH. Coming up on six months of having this blog, I hit a small identity crisis of "what I am I doing with my life?" What steps should I take? How do I map this out? What is the means to this end? This blog is a tool, but am I using it the right way? So many questions that will go unanswered. Creative lives have to be individually explored one step at a time—with no instruction manual—and outside the box. If anyone has direction or a word, please drop me a hint. That's all. Thank you for your time. I hope you enjoyed the fruits of my mini crisis.

My husband and I are putting a patio in the backyard today. {photos soon!} What a relief to take a break for a quick blog post—featuring a lovely summer image that makes me happy. I hope your Monday is a great one!

spice it up

A little solution to the annoying problem of loose spices. The jars were a great buy from Ikea, and just needed a small touch to be completely lovable. The spice labels were from Amazon and include 87 different spices. Being round, the labels don't stick perfectly, but I still like them. It would also be super cute to make my own round labels for the lids.

baby time

How amazing is this adorable bib & burp cloth from The Fresh Stitch?!

I bought it for a baby shower gift and also made some pink cookies.

Yummy! And these would also be fun to make for upcoming Valentines Day, I just need to make sure I don't eat them all first.
